Music production is one of the most complex activities requiring the highest involvement and coordination of nervous and musculoskeletal systems in their entirety. Or, to put it into a single word: magic.
“The interaction of a person with a musical instrument can be a magical event. Cognitive and physical skills combine in sophisticated ways and craft beautiful musical performances. When either cognitive or physical skills are deficient, this potentially magical even becomes a disaster. Or, even worse, boring.”
– Stephen Caplan, Oboemotions.
Feldenkrais method promotes this combination of cognitive and physical skills through simple and specific improvements. Improved posture and ‘Acture’ remove repetitive strain and excessive effort greatly extending the longevity of musical career. Better movement prevents injuries and in many cases alleviates or eliminates existing ones. A better tone and control over the sound are achieved.
In individual sessions we start by testing sitting, standing & breathing while playing an instrument or just holding it. These results give us a starting point and a reference for improvements. Individual classes can be followed up by group sessions to solidify the achieved results.
